Winners of the 23rd Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards announced


(Toggle) The 23rd Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards Ceremony was held tonight, with Stephen Chow and Wong Chun winning the Best Director Award for their movies The Mermaid and Mad World respectively.

Zhou Dongyu was awarded the Best Actress for her performance in the movie Soul Mate and received the trophy from Michael Hui excitedly.

When asked if she was confident in winning the Hong Kong Film Award, she said smilingly that she had not thought about it, but hoped that her friend and director of Soul Mate, Derek Tsang and the movie’s team will win. She also added that she  was confident that Shawn Yue will win the Best Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Award for his performance in Mad World.

Dongyu also shared that she was happy for Shawn, who was recently revealed to be dating Taiwanese model Sarah Wang. The actress revealed that she will pay no heed to any dating rumours regarding her and Ethan Ruan if they were to work together again, as she just wants to focus on her work.

Gordon Lam, who received the Best Actor Award for Trivisa, revealed that his mother did not say anything when she heard the news, though he later found out that she  secretly left him a red packed with 10 dollars inside. It was his first time winning a movie award and hefeels as if he has finally accomplished something.
