(Toggle) Currently living a blissful newlywed life with her husband, Christy Chung made a rare appearance at a Chinese event, where she revealed she once proposed to Stephen Chow, only to be rejected. She explained that she was a regular fixture on his movies, including 1994 films Hail the Judge and Love on Delivery, where they got to know each other better.
After working together, Christy shared that her sense of admiration towards Stephen grew and proposed marriage to him after she heard that he failed in his bid to move to Canada. Stephen’s application to immigrate was turned down after links to the mob were revealed, and Christy hinted that she could “help him obtain a Canadian passport” as she is a Canadian by birth. She was immediately rejected.
Upon revealing the proposal to the media, Christy chuckled that she was extremely dejected after the incident and has yet to figure out why he said no to her back then.
The Canadian-born actress tied the knot for the third time last November in a lavish ceremony and her groom, Chinese actor Golden Zhang, is 12 years younger than her. She has three daughters from her previous two marriages.
