On September 22, 2023, Anne, Princess Royal, officially opened the Port of Aberdeen’s new Aberdeen South Harbour. Upon arrival, the Princess was welcomed by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeen David Cameron and Roy Buchan, who is the chair of the Port of Aberdeen. The Port of Aberdeen is now Scotland's largest berthage port. Princess Anne has been the patron of Maritime UK since 2017.
