On Saturday 21 May 2022, Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the last session of the semifinals of the Queen Elisabeth Cello Competition 2022 at Flagey Concert Hall in Brussels. Afterwards, the 12 finalists were announced. The final will take place at the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts from Monday 30 May to Saturday 4 June. Every evening, two of the twelve finalists will perform with the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Stéphane Denève.
