On March 23, 2022, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the crisis unit for Ukraine of the Spanish Red Cross (CRE) at Red Cross headquarters in Madrid, Spain. The Spanish Red Cross are responsible for welcoming refugees in centres, which are government-run. CRE is a humanitarian institution, of a voluntary nature and of public interest, which carries out its activity under the protection of the Government of Spain and the High Patronage of the Kings of Spain.
