Today, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrates his 75th birthday. The King was born on Walpurgis Night, Friday 30 April. Walpurgis Night (Valborgsmässoafton) is a traditional holiday celebrated on April 30 in Scandinavia, and also marks the arrival of spring. Just like last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the traditional celebration of the King's birthday at the royal palace's courtyard, to be attended by the Armed Forces and public, was cancelled. This year, the King and Queen celebrates the King's birthday at the Royal Palace.
