On October 13, 2020, The Duchess of Cornwall visited Ebony Horse Club in Brixton and there, she met with children, volunteers, staff and horses at their stables. The Duchess toured the Club and then watched an after-school lesson in the arena.
The Duchess is President of the Club, which is a charity and community riding centre that is home to 8 horses and which provides riding and horse care opportunities for 140 children and young people each week. It aims to help children and young people learn new skills, develop aspiration and take on new responsibilities.
Afterwards, The Duchess of Cornwall visited neighbouring boxing club, Dwaynamics MBE Gym Brixton. The Dwaynamics MBE Gym Brixton Boxing Club gives young people in Brixton the opportunity to take part in free boxing programmes and learn a new skill. Following the tragic death of her son, Pastor Lorraine Jones founded Dwaynamics to steer at-risk youth away from gang-culture and violence, and show them that there is a future. Since its opening, the club has expanded their programmes to offer free education and life-skill support.
