Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited the northeastern Japan prefectures of Miyagi and Fukushima to offer encouragement to people affected by deadly Typhoon Hagibis in mid-October. The typhoon ripped through a wide area of Japan, leaving more than 90 people dead. On December 26, the Emperor and the Empress arrived in Miyagi Prefecture. The Emperor and the Empress of Japan talked to victims of Typhoon at temporary housing in Marumori. This is their first visit to a disaster-hit area since the emperor's enthronement in May. |
