Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako paraded in Tokyo

On November 10, 2019, Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako paraded through central Tokyo. The motorcade procession was held to celebrate the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito. The parade was originally scheduled for October 22 but postponed after Typhoon Hagibis slammed into Japan and caused widespread damage. Crown Prince and Princess Akishino, and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also took part in the procession. The parade is the last of the five key ceremonies held in connection with the enthronement of the Emperor, which began on May 1.
