| On the evening of October 23, a banquet for newly enthroned Emperor, hosted by the Prime Minister and his wife was held in Tokyo in order to thank the foreign heads of state and other dignitaries for visiting Japan and to foster a greater understanding of Japan by presenting displays of traditional Japanese culture. The banquet was at Hotel New Otani in Tokyo. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, King Carl Gustaf and Crown Princess Victoria, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel and Queen Jetsun Pema, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, and Prince Charles were among the royals present at the banquet.
