(China Plus) Chinese veteran actor Guo Tao, best known for his portrayal in the award-winning film The Dead End, has recently promoted his directorial debut titled Desire Game, or Yu Nian You Xi (欲念游戏) in Chinese.
Guo said his production was inspired by a number of American sci-fi blockbusters.
"I'm crazy about some spectacular American sci-fi blockbusters. I often read articles about them in my spare time. I hope to diversify the Chinese film market. So my upcoming film has sci-fi elements and elements of crime thrillers."
Guo costars with veteran actress Mei Ting in his directorial debut, portraying a couple. However the husband portrayed by Guo suddenly becomes indifferent and mute to his spouse after their daughter loses her life in an accident. Meanwhile, the husband spends much of his day interacting with sci-fi gadgets, and it almost kills him.
The film "Desire Game" will open in Chinese cinemas on Friday.
