Queen Sonja attended 950th anniversary of Bjørgvin in Selja

On July 8, 2018, Queen Sonja of Norway attended the 950th anniversary of the Ancient Diocese of Bergen (Bjørgvin) on the island of Selja in Nordfjord. The discovery at Selja in 996 of the supposed remains of St. Sunniva and her companions led King Olaf Trygveson to build a church there. It was till 1068 that a bishopric and a monastery were founded at Selje by King Olaf Kyrre.
