(Toggle) Fans of on-screen couple Feng Jiu and Dong Hua in hit Chinese TV series Eternal Love (or Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) will be pleased to know that their favourite characters will remain unchanged, despite rumours of cast changes in the drama adaptation of Three Lives Three Worlds, The Pillow Book, the sequel of Eternal Love.
In an official post on The Pillow Book’s Weibo account earlier today, it is revealed that Chinese actress Dilraba Dilmurat will reprise her role as immortal nine-tailed red fox Bai Feng Jiu, while Chinese actor Vengo Gao will play Emperor Lord Dong Hua.
Eternal Love was first released in January last year (Jan 30), and is based on the Chinese internet novel of the same name, written by author Tang Qi.
The drama, which told the love story of Bai Qian (played by Chinese actress Yang Mi) and Ye Hua (played by Taiwanese actor Mark Chao) was a hit with viewers. The novel was also re-adapted as a movie, which was released in July last year, with Yang Yang and Liu Yifei playing its leads.
Dilraba’s character Bai Feng Jiu is Bai Qian’s niece, who later develops feelings for Vengo’s character Dong Hua. In the series, the love story between Feng Jiu and Dong Hua, which spanned over a period of two thousand years, captured the hearts of fans.
The Pillow Book is slated to begin filming this year, and as the series will focus on the development of the love story between the pair, fans of this on-screen couple are excitedly awaiting its eventual release.
Eternal Love was the most-watched fantasy period series in China last year. Dilraba was also dubbed the next big thing by industry experts following her popularity as Bai Feng Jiu in the series.
