(CFI) Recently, Taiwan announces a list of mainland Chinese films to be released theatrically in that region in 2018.
Each year, Taiwan sets a quota to allow a certain number of mainland Chinese productions to be released in Taiwan. Submitted films reportedly go through a random selection (“lottery”) process to gain a theatrical slot.
This year, 66 films from the mainland are submitted, and 10 films are selected. This year’s selected films include ‘Namiya,’ ‘A Better Tomorrow 4,’ ‘Transcendent,’ ‘Free and Easy,’ ‘Plastic China,’ ‘Old Beast,’ ‘Cook Up A Storm,’ ‘The Dreaming Man,’ ‘Soulmate,’ and ‘Battle of Memories.’
Box office smash hit ‘Wolf Warrior 2’ and the highly anticipated ‘Youth’ are not selected.
