Shanghai International Film Festival set to open in June

(CRI) The dates have been set for this year's Shanghai International Film Festival, which will take place between June 17th and 26th. To meet the demands of movie lovers, the duration of this year's event has been extended to ten days from the previous nine.

One of the films being highlighted this year is documentary "Ganglha Metok," which follows three girls living in China's Tibetan-inhabited regions as they pursue their dreams.

The Shanghai event is the only film festival in China that features a category for documentary features.

Every year, it receives around 900 submissions from all around the world in that category alone.

Since its first edition in 1993, the Shanghai International Film Festival has grown to become one of the largest film festivals in Asia.

This year's event will take place following the Shanghai Television Festival.
