Celeb babies due to hatch in 2017

Celeb babies due to hatch in 2017

Celebrating the Chinese New Year over the past weekend probably felt extra special for the famous local and Asian couples on our list, who are expecting little ones in 2017. Believed to be charismatic, charming, social, hardworking and talented, Fire Rooster babies will certainly make a great addition to their families.

Read on to find out which celebrities’ broods are set to grow very soon:

Sonia Sui & Tony Chia
Due: Any time now!
Gender: Girl

Little Lucy is ready to be born at any moment soon – in fact, her mummy has been in Taiwan getting ready for the birth for the past few weeks. The 36-year-old actress originally intended to deliver her daughter in Singapore like her first child Max, but changed her mind after last year’s Zika outbreak.

Sonia’s second pregnancy was announced in the most adorable way last September, through a Facebook post starring her doe-eyed boy. In the collage, the one-year-old is pictured showing a variety of concerned, pensive-looking expressions, with text quotes over him reading, “Sigh, what a bother. Of course, big brother is happy to welcome you, little sister, but when Mummy says ‘Baby’ in the future, there’s only a one out of three chance she’s referring to me”.

Don’t worry, Max, we know your pa and ma will still love you very much.

Joanne Peh & Qi Yuwu
Due: May 2017
Gender: Unknown

It’s been almost a year and a half, but the protective power couple is still keeping their first child Baby Qi’s real name and face a secret on social media – low-profile treatment we foresee for the elusive toddler’s unborn younger sibling as well (mum has explained that she has a “fear of people knowing too much, especially with kids”).

When we last spoke to Joanne back in late October after news of her second pregnancy first broke, the 33-year-old actress admitted that she is having a much more difficult expectancy this time around, complete with nausea and loss of appetite. Thankfully, doting dad and hubby Yuwu returned from China to take care of her during the first trimester, and Joanne seems much more comfortable these days, judging from the adorable updates she shares of her activities with Baby Qi.

Catch Joanne on Dream Coder weekdays, 9pm on Channel 8, starting February 7.

Ella Chen & Alvin Lai
Due: April 2017
Gender: Boy

We love the bubbly S.H.E member’s baby announcement pictures because it perfectly captures just how darn excited she and her hubby were. Ella admitted that she found it tough to keep the good news a secret, and now that the whole world finally knows, she has continued to keep everyone updated with regular postings on social media, much to the delight of her followers.

Just as pumped for the impending arrival are her bandmates and Selina Jen and Hebe Tien, who reportedly burst into tears when they saw the positive pregnancy test results. The enthusiastic “aunts”-to-be also couldn’t help but divulge the unborn child’s nickname, “Bundle of Energy”, during a Facebook live broadcast session. We are certainly looking forward to the frequent flood of pictures of the kid from the trio.

Charlie Young & Khoo Shao Tze
Due: May 2017
Gender: Unknown

Our little red dot will be the setting for another one of the Hong Kong actress’ major life milestones following her lavish wedding to her Singaporean beau three years ago – the 42-year-old recently confirmed her five-month pregnancy through her manager after being hounded by the press. The baby bump speculations were first sparked when Angelica Lee shared a group picture of herself, Gigi Leung (plus adorable daughter Sofia) and Charlie, who was hiding her belly behind a cushion.

Charlie and Shao Tze, a lawyer by training, tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony at Sentosa’s W Hotel in November 2013. They first began dating in 1997 but broke up in 2003, only to get back together again in 2011 (a reconciliation that clearly has a much happier ending!).

Alyssa Chia & Xiu Jie Kai
Due: February 2017
Gender: Unknown

Chubby-cheeked “Youngest Internet Celebrity” Bu Bu is set to be a big sister when her 42-year-old mummy pops for the third time very soon. Alyssa’s oldest daughter from her first marriage, 11-year-old Angelina, is also very excited for the impending arrival, drawing family portraits and asking lots of questions about her unborn sibling.

Baby number three will be the last addition to the brood, as Alyssa is reportedly considering birth control surgery. The actress was previously wed to tycoon Sun Zhihao until 2010, and admitted to her May-December relationship with 33-year-old Jie Kai in October 2014. The couple registered their marriage just before Bu Bu’s birth in August 2015.

Haha & Byul
Due: March/April 2017
Gender: Boy

The entertainer and his singer wife are set to give their oldest son Dream a little brother in a few months’ time. In October last year, when Byul was about four months along, Haha’s agency Quan Entertainment confirmed reports that they were expecting their second child together, prompting netizens to flood news comments sections – and the couple’s respective social media pages – with their congratulations.

Haha and Byul shocked everyone – including their fellow celebrities – when they announced their plans to tie the knot in 2012. Despite the unexpected news, many top Korean celebs made time to attend the ceremony, including Haha’s Running Man and Infinity Challenge co-stars, his fellow entertainers, as well as several idol group members.

Harlem Yu & Jinny Chang
Due: June 2017
Gender: Unknown

Soon after Harlem’s manager shot down reports that the singer’s news anchor wife was expecting, Jinny herself let the cat out of the bag during an interview with persistent paparazzi at her office, happily declaring, “I’m about to become a mother!” Since then, Harlem has been proving himself to be quite the attentive hubby when it was reported that he turned down many job offers in order to spend more time with his 41-year-old missus.

The couple wed last August after a ten-month courtship and this is their first child together. Harlem, 55, also has another son from his previous marriage to Annie Yi.

Kay Tse & Louis Cheung
Due: March 2017
Gender: Girl

Fans and the media began suspecting that the Cantopop diva was pregnant with her second kid when she announced a temporary hiatus from music earlier last year. The rumours were sparked once again in July when she was spotted at a mall with her actor-singer husband, dressed in baggy clothes and stopping to admire baby products.

Although they denied the reports as first (as stars usually do), 39-year-old Kay finally made the happy announcement last September when she was photographed proudly flaunting her baby bump under a form-fitting black dress. Looks like 9-year-old James will have a new baby sister to look after and play with very soon.

Park Myung Soo & Han Su Min
Due: May 2017
Gender: Unknown

The South Korean comedian chose to announce his dermatologist wife’s pregnancy in style: while delivering his acceptance speech at last year’s KBS Entertainment Awards after picking up the crown for Best Radio DJ. “I am having a second child at the age of 47 (Korean age). I have never been happier in my life,” he gushed, before declaring his love for Su Min, oldest daughter Min Seo and his unborn child in front of a delighted-looking audience.

In an episode of variety programme Infinite Challenge that aired after the baby news, Myung Soo’s co-hosts quipped that he was giving hope to older aspiring fathers everywhere. He admitted that he and Su Min weren’t even planning for a new addition to the family, but that they were grateful and elated nonetheless.

William So & Anita Fung
Due: March 2017
Gender: Boy

49-year-old William and his 40-year-old missus were on the verge of giving up after two fruitless years of trying for a kid, but they were eventually blessed with a pleasant surprise late last year, when Anita discovered she was carrying a son. The Cantopop singer was, of course, over the moon, and vowed to do more charitable works in order to repay the heavens for their precious gift.

Whatever names they have planned for their boy, we hope they don’t heed Richie Jen’s suggestion to call him “So Dabing” or “soda cracker”. Famous father or not, that poor child is going to be made fun of for the rest of his life!
