DIKSHA CLAIMS TOP POSITION AFTER TWO ROUNDS OF 7th USHA DGC LADIES OPEN AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP 2016 - DAY 2 SCORES

New Delhi, November 16, 2016: The 7th Usha DGC Ladies Open Amateur Golf Championship 2016 witnessed scintillating performances on day 2 as Diksha Dagar snatched top spot in Category A at the end of second round today at Delhi Golf Club. Usha has been supporting Ladies Amateur Golf for the last 29 years. This year’s tournament is witnessing a participation of 105 Indian amateur golfers.

Beginning tied with Arshia Mahant and Sifat Sagoo, all at two-over 74 overnight, Diksha carded a 76 on Wednesday to total 150, two strokes ahead of Sifat, who scored 78. The third joint overnight leader, Arshia, had an indifferent second round as she fell to joint third with a card of 80 (154)  with Anika Verma, who added a 79 to her overnight 75.

Diksha had four bogeys and a birdie in the first nine and then returned with another bogey to end with a four-over card for the day. But that was enough as Sifat had six bogeys and no birdies to end up at six-over for the day.

Arshia seven bogeys and one double-bogey to neutralise one birdie, giving her a card of 80 and joint third with Anika, who had five bogeys going out, a total of seven, recovered with a total of three birdies to end three-over. Diksha also lifted the Usha Gold Trophy in Category A (-14 handicap and under) with a best gross score of 150, ahead of Sifat (152).

Purnisha Gangarappa (-9) stayed on top of the best nett scores for the DLF Challenge Cup. She had nets of 71 apiece for two days to give her a total of 142, one ahead of Yavnika Duhan (-14). Diksha, Sifat, Anika and Arshia also stayed ahead of the pack in the Usha Junior Girls Trophy (under-18). Purnisha and Yavnika were ahead in the nett race here as well.
