A New Ancient Costume Drama Series to Meet Audiences on Nov 11

(CRI) A new ancient Chinese costume drama series about the struggles within the imperial family during the Northern Wei Dynasty will take audiences back some 1500 years and broadcast on the Beijing Satellite TV starting this Friday.

Hong Kong director Li Huizhu, who is well-known for making many ancient TV drama series including the popular Legend of Lu Zhen, directed Princess Weiyang.

She chose actress Tiffany Tang Yan to portray the lead character Princess Weiyang. Tang Yan has disclosed how complicated her dressing is in this upcoming TV drama series.

"I wear a total of 90 ancient costumes, which is unprecedented in all of my acting experiences in the TV drama series."

The lead character is a kind-hearted princess who accidentally enters her enemy's territory and was wrongly identified as Li Weiyang, the daughter of a tutor. She suffers many hardships but eventually utilizes her wisdom to become a powerful woman.

Tiffany Tang explains her role:

"She has an insightful mind. She cares about the long-term interest and knows how to set her ambitious goals step by step. Later several incidents happened but all under her control."

Young actor Luo Jin, who has co-starred with Tang as a couple three times, will co-star again with her in the role as a general to protect Princess Weiyang. Other major roles are played by Taiwan-American singer-actor Van Ness Wu and Golden Bell award-winning Hong Kong actress Leanne Liu.
