On November 2, 2016, Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the War Memorial in Canberra, Australia. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima lay a wreath at the Hall of Memory, watch the Pool of Remembrance and pass the Poppy Wall. The Dutch King and Queen are in Australia to mark the 400th anniversary of the landing of Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog in Western Australia, and the unveiling of Hartog's plate, which is the oldest existing relic of European exploration in Australia. |
