On August 19, 2022, Crown Princess Kiko attended the "Research Fellow - RPD Research Exchange Meeting" hosted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS or Gakushin) at the Meiji Kinenkan in Minato, Tokyo.
The Crown Princess is an honorary researcher of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The exchange meeting was attended by researchers who received research grants and whose research was interrupted because of childbirth and childcare.
JSPS is an independent administrative institution, established by way of a national law. It was founded in 1932 as a non-profit foundation by means of a donation granted by Emperor Shōwa and aims to contribute to the advancement of all branches of science.
