On November 14, 2021, Former Princess Mako and her husband Kei Komuro departed from Tokyo's Haneda International Airport for New York to start their new life in the United States. The couple will live in New York where Kei Komuro works as a law clerk at a law office. Mako is the eldest daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko and the niece of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. The newlyweds are said to have expressed gratitude to the Imperial family and people who supported them before leaving.
