Chinese film 'Sister' tops China box office on debut day


(Xinhua) Chinese feature film "Sister" led the Chinese mainland box office on Friday, raking in over 62 million yuan (about 9.45 million U.S. dollars) on its debut day, according to figures released by the China Movie Data Information Network on Saturday.

The film, putting spotlight on sibling relationship, tells the story between a teenage girl and her younger brother after their parents died in a car crash.

"Godzilla vs Kong," the latest installment to the cinematic MonsterVerse, came in second, with another 51.4 million yuan added to its total box office of about 657 million yuan.

In third place is domestic comedy-drama "The Eleventh Chapter," which finished the day with a revenue of about 12.78 million yuan.

In fourth and fifth were two domestic productions -- romantic drama "Tomorrow Will Be Fine" and animation "Monkey King Reborn," with daily earnings of 9.9 million yuan and 6.7 million yuan, respectively.
