On October 15, 2020, Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Cambridge visited the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down to meet scientists providing support to the country’s COVID-19 response and to officially open its new Energetics Analysis Centre. The Queen carried out her first public visit since March today. The Queen also formally opened the new Energetics Analysis Centre.
During the visit to Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, The Queen and The Duke of Cambridge met scientists providing vital support to the UK response of the COVID-19 pandemic, working in analytic research areas and deploying microbiologists to NHS hospitals to increase testing capacities.
