On September 17, 2020, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited Stavanger in Rogaland county. The Crown Princess joined the Crown Prince in the second part of the day. The couple visited Equinor ASA - formerly Statoil - which is Rogaland's largest and most important employer, and operator of around 60 per cent of all production on the Norwegian shelf.
In addition, the company is a significant international player. The company focused on the green shift in the meeting with the Crown Prince and Crown Princess. Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil and StatoilHydro) is a Norwegian state-owned multinational energy company headquartered in Stavanger. Through two other presentations, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess received information about Equinor's investments in offshore wind and the possibilities within carbon capture and storage.
