The Legend of Xiao Chuo is a 2020 Chinese television series based on the novel Yan Yun Tai by Jiang Shengnan. The series chronicles the life of legendary Empress Xiao Yanyan.
Xiao Yanyan (portrayed by Tiffany Tang), is the most famous "Empress Xiao Chuo" in history and the third daughter of prime minister Xiao Siwen and Princess Yan. Yanyan had two other sisters, Hunian (Charmaine Sheh) and Wu Guili (Lu Shan) who were in political marriages. She is clever and instinct by nature and is passionate about everything and does not give up easily. She and Han Derang (portrayed by Shawn Dou) were childhood lovers. However, because of fate, she encountered Yelu Xian (portrayed by Jing Chao) and entered the deep palace to become his queen. With her healthy tenacity and decisive courage, she made up for the shortcomings of Yelu Xian's character and health, and won the love and trust of Yelu Xian.
