King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the 175th anniversary events of the Civil Guard

On May 13, 2019, Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia of Spain presided over events at Madrid Royal Palace, held on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of establishment of the Civil Guard. The Civil Guard (Spanish Guardia Civil) is national police force of Spain. It was founded in 1844, and its first accomplishment was the suppression of brigandage in southern Spain. In annual surveys, it generally ranks as the national institution most valued by Spaniards.
