(China Plus) The Spring Festival Gala for 2019 has smashed ratings records in China with nearly 1.2 billion people watching the program through a variety of media platforms,42 million more than that of last year.
On the eve of the Lunar New Year, nearly 240 domestic TV stations and nearly 220 overseas partners broadcast the gala across over 160 countries and regions.
Five-hundred and 27 million people watched the Gala using new media platforms, an increase of nearly 100 million compared to last year.
Viewer comments posted online were nearly 97 percent positive, making it one of the most popular Spring Festival shows in recent years.
The Spring Festival Gala to celebrate the Lunar New Year was staged by China Media Group on Monday night.
Performances included singing and dancing, cross-talk, sketches and more.
