Ruby Lin, Alec Su reunite in new movie project

(Toggle) Good news: Ruby Lin and Alec Su will be working together again, 13 years after their last project, Chinese TV series Magic Touch of Fate.

Instead of working as co-stars, the two actors will be collaborating as director and actress in the movie, The Devotion of Suspect X, an adaptation of Detective Galileo, a hit Japanese novel series by Keigo Hiashino.

Movie posters featuring Ruby as the lead actress were finally revealed yesterday (Feb 20) after days of keeping the female lead’s identity a secret.

News of Ruby’s participation in the project was also confirmed by the actress herself via Weibo yesterday. “Your good friend Chen Jing (the name of her character in the movie) is now online. What would you like to eat today?” she wrote.

Alec sang praises of his “fellow comrade” who started work right after her grand wedding to Wallace Huo in Bali. “She did not wear makeup throughout filming [and] I was really touched by that,” he said.

The two Taiwanese actors became friends in real life after collaborating on several hit TV series, such as My Fair Princess and Romance in the Rain.

The Devotion of Suspect X also stars Chinese actors Wang Kai and Zhang Luyi (Edward Zhang).
