Mainland actor Wang Qianyuan, who won the Award for Best Actor in 2010 Tokyo International Film Festival, co-stars with her.
At a promotional event held Tuesday afternoon in Beijing, both Shu Qi and Wang Qianyuan disclosed there's a magical, powerful weapon in the village.
Shu Qi first explained.
"The weapon can control people's minds, making them more agreeable. Also it can change people's attitudes, suddenly making people that someone disliked liked much."
Wang Qianyuan followed her by making an interesting comparison.
"When a person wears it on his or her head, it works on his or her brain- it's as simple as using a computer mouse to delete unsightly photographs off a computer while keeping only the best."
The film is set during the end of the Qing dynasty. A very strange event takes place in a village, and it turns a sleepy rural village's life upside down.
Directed by award-winning director Chen Yu-Hsun, the Village of No Return is expected to hit the big screen during the spring festival of 2017.
